Karma yoga is the path of selfless service. I like to think of it as a way to give back for all that I am grateful for. Karma yoga can be practically applied by acting in the word without any thought of getting something in return. A wonderful example of karma yoga was beautifully portrayed in the popular movie “pay it forward”. The philosophy behind karma yoga, is that in serving others selflessly, you are really serving the Divine.
At Journey to Light Wellness we offer an opportunity to practice karma yoga one Sunday a month by volunteering at the Mustard Seed Homeless Shelter in Calgary Alberta. While we usually work in the kitchen, occasionally our assistance is needed in other places at the shelter. I really hope you can join us!

“Today I took part in Karma yoga. It was a wonderful experience. We meditated for a short time and went into Calgary to work for a couple of hours at the Mustard Seed. It was interesting to see how things that I meditated about and that had been on my mind became more clear and relevant while we were working at our assigned tasks. The discussion to and from in the car was so invigorating and inspiring. I liked it so much, that I asked Christine if we could go every week! For now - once a month - but hopefully in 2010 twice a month. Most of all it was good to help out at this amazing place - even in a very small way.” ~ Irene
